About the event
On April 5, Musica Impact held its annual Soloist of Impact competition at the Tremolo Center for Percussion Arts.
This year, the competition was open to string players from across the country. The winners were offered the opportunity to perform a solo piece with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra as part of the first half of the SympHorizons concert, scheduled for July 31 in Tel Aviv. The concert will be professionally recorded, creating a high-quality, lasting document for the soloists—a meaningful token of their musical journey and development.
The jury included Musica Impact’s Artistic Director, Samuel Gal Alterovich, alongside Janna Gendelman, concertmaster of the Jerusalem Symphony, and the internationally renowned violist and professor Guy Ben-Ziony.
We are delighted to announce this year’s winners and their assigned repertoire:
Itai Galai, violist, student of Mr. Avi Sarid, will perform the first movement from William Walton’s Viola Concerto.
Eden Tzemach, violinist, student of Janna Gendelman at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, will perform the second movement from Johannes Brahms’s Violin Concerto in D Major, op. 77.
Yehoshua Ben-Nissim, violinist, student of Mr. Etien Meneri at the Hasadna Conservatory in Jerusalem, will perform the first movement from Dmitry Kabalevsky’s Violin Concerto in C major, op. 48.
Yana Lazurenko, cellist, student of Ms. Ella Toovy at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, will perform Max Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, op. 47.
We warmly congratulate this year’s winners and wish them the best of luck in the upcoming concert—and far beyond!
