Mu/Zi International Chamber Music Festival 2025

The 2025 edition of the Mu/Zi International Chamber Music Festival will take place in southern Israel under the theme “Looking South, Reaching Out.” 

In response to the events of October 7 and their lasting impact on communities across the region, the Festival will bring together leading international artists, outstanding young Israeli musicians and young musicians from the south of Israel in a shared artistic experience. Through performances, mentorship and side-by-side collaboration, young performers will have the opportunity to learn from and perform alongside some of the world's leading chamber musicians.

Hosted in Be’er Sheva, the Festival will extend to communities throughout the region, including Sderot, Netivot, Kibbutz Dorot and other localities affected by the war. Alongside performances by the Festival’s Artistic Directors, Zvi Plesser and Guy Braunstein, and distinguished guest artists from the United States and Europe, the program will combine world-class chamber music with meaningful engagement with local communities and cultural institutions.

A central element of the Festival will be its collaboration with young musicians and music institutions in the region. Events will include joint activities with the Netivot Conservatory, opportunities for young local musicians to rehearse and perform with Festival artists, and a gala concert at the Mishkan Pais for the Performing Arts in Netivot, bringing together international artists, outstanding young Israeli musicians and emerging performers from the south on the same stage.

The Festival will feature concerts, open rehearsals, educational activities and community events, all designed to create meaningful encounters between artists, audiences and young musicians. Admission to all Festival events will be free of charge for residents of southern Israel.

Through its presence in the region, the Festival seeks to strengthen cultural life, support young musicians, foster solidarity between communities across Israel and provide access to world-class musical experiences. By bringing internationally renowned artists to the region, the Festival also aims to promote greater international awareness and understanding of the realities faced by the communities of southern Israel.
